A handful of images from East Africa in September 2011. These were taken as we travelled through Kisongo, small town near Arusha where there is a Maasai market a couple of days each week. For the most part, the Tanzanian towns seemed better kept than towns in Kenya, particularly in the east and central part of the country, so these photos probably don’t do them justice. It would be difficult, but I would love to go and spend a few days in some of the towns in Kenya taking photos of people and their shops. You can look at these communities and see a jumble of shops and stalls and see chaos and confusion. Or you can see enterprise and determination, and that paints it all in quite a different light.
